About Work, People, and Finding the Right Fit

Finding the right people is a bit like alchemy. You need the right ingredients, an eye for detail, and the ability to recognise who is on the same wavelength as the ICE team. Tereza Teclová, our People & Culture Specialist, says: "At ICE, we don’t just look for 'someone' to fill a role based on a CV. We go beyond that – focusing on values, attitude, and overall alignment. Everything needs to click into place."

And that’s exactly what recruitment at ICE is about – it’s not just paperwork and formal selection. Tereza sees it as a sensitive and important process where experience, intuition, and our company DNA all play a role. In this interview, she shares her insights on talent acquisition, what excites her most about it, and how ICE identifies the perfect candidate.

➡️ Tereza, what does your role as a People & Culture Specialist involve?

My main focus is recruitment, but I also manage other HR activities, such as collaborating with schools and conducting exit interviews. My goal is to bring in people who fit naturally into our open and dynamic company culture.

➡️ What excites you most about recruitment?

I love that “aha” moment when everything falls into place – when we find someone who not only fits the team professionally but also thrives in our environment. Seeing them enjoy their work, grow, and contribute value to ICE is truly rewarding.

➡️ What happens after a CV passes the initial screening?

A short phone conversation follows, where I learn what candidates are looking for, what interests them, and why they’re considering a job change. I also introduce ICE, explain how we work, and clarify what the role entails. Candidates often ask about the team, job responsibilities… and sometimes express concerns about the video questionnaire.

➡️ Wait, a video questionnaire? What is that?

It’s a great tool that allows us to get a feel for the candidate before the interview. It’s a set of pre-recorded questions, and the candidate responds on video. This gives us an initial impression without requiring an immediate in-person meeting. Each role has slightly different questions, but some remain consistent across positions. And that’s all I’ll reveal – candidates will experience the rest for themselves! (smiles)

➡️ How do you assess technical skills?

I don’t have to dive into technical discussions myself. Our specialists from installations, design, and software teams have created tests that help us quickly evaluate a candidate’s abilities. It’s clear, fair, and avoids unnecessary guesswork.

➡️ Do interviews always take place in person?

Yes, meeting candidates face-to-face is essential for us. Ideally, they visit our headquarters in Žďár nad Sázavou, where they can see our projects live in the production hall and meet the team. For technicians, this hands-on experience is invaluable, while for others, it’s a great way to get a feel for the working environment.

➡️ Which positions are currently in high demand?

We are constantly looking for PLC programmers, designers, and electrical engineers – there’s never enough of them! We have plenty of projects and are always on the lookout for skilled professionals.

➡️ What makes recruitment at ICE different?

It’s all about our approach! We don’t just look at skills and experience – we focus on personal values and cultural fit. We’re not the kind of company that just ticks boxes in a job description. We want to understand what motivates candidates, how they think, and whether they’d thrive in our dynamic environment.

➡️ What is the biggest challenge in recruitment at ICE?

Finding people who truly fit into our unique company culture. We operate with openness, a fast-paced environment, and a strong focus on self-management. Some people adapt easily, while for others, it’s a big shift. Recognising who will succeed in this setting is sometimes quite a challenge!

➡️ What’s the best part about working at ICE?

The people. We have an amazing team that supports each other and knows how to have fun. It might sound too good to be true – but it’s not! (smiles)

We also invest in the next generation. We offer internships, work placements, and part-time jobs, allowing students to work on real projects. For many, it’s the first step toward a full-time career at ICE. We also organise robotics course, automation camps, and our Junior Xperience programme, because we love sharing our know-how in a fun and engaging way.

➡️ How do you like to relax after a busy day of interviews and talent scouting?

I love clearing my head with physical activity and fresh air. I enjoy cycling, swimming, and skiing in winter, and I play volleyball all year round. I live close to a forest, so when I don’t have time for something bigger, I at least go for a quick walk outside. But I also enjoy unwinding with a good book or a film.

And what does Pavlína Mokrá, ICE’s Navigator, say about Tereza?

"For me, Terka is an essential person in her role as a navigator. By selecting the right people, she helps maintain our great company culture. Thanks to her, we have colleagues who are easy to work with. Terka is also precise, responsible, and always in a good mood – she never spoils the fun, making our workplace even more enjoyable."
