Wombats are relatively shy animals, so the intention is to partially hide visitors in the natural environment of the animal - in the burrow. The entire enclosure is inspired by the topography and contours of Australia and Tazmania.
We also took advantage of the diversity of the terrain so that the visitor could see the enclosure from different angles. The raised back wall prevents the view of the zoo's background (supplemented by vegetation). The lowered terrain of the trail in turn allows visitors to observe the animals at eye level, and the wombats can be seen from the bee valley through individual vistas.
The building consists of 18 unique prefabricated parts. The main material used is 3D printed concrete treated with a hydrophobic coating. The individual modules are filled with soil and vegetative greenery to blend in more with the surroundings, and by planting the greenery out of the animal's reach, damage to it is avoided.
